Although I feel shy showing my work experience (as a typical Asian), I believe those are beautiful artifacts of my life which show how I have started and kept my curiosity in the Career Services field. My experience working with job seekers and employers:
July 2021 - July 2022: Working full time at Herzing College, Toronto as Career Services Specialist and then promoted to Interim Director of Career Services. I helped 150-200 students (second career, adult learners) from diverse background looking for internship and jobs in various fields, including: Immigration services, Business, Paralegal, Occupational Health and Safety.
August 2022 - Present: Working full-time at Toronto Metropolitan University, Toronto as a Co-op Program Specialist. I helped 200-250 computer science students annually to get co-op jobs related to their major. The majority of the roles are: Tester, software developer, data analyst, IT helpdesk, business analyst, cyber security, UX/UI design, etc.
In both jobs, I have the opportunities to work not only with the job seekers but also with the employers to understand their hiring needs and update my knowledge about the job market. I've been helping 150+ employers in Ontario, Canada hiring early career talent through the internship / co-op and fresh graduate programs.
My community volunteer experience
I had been volunteering as a Mentorship Program Lead for a Vietnamese professional community in Toronto, Canada for 2 years, in 2022 and 2023, where I contribute my value to give back to the community. In 2022, there were 30 Mentors and 40 Mentees joining the program from various fields (more than 10 different industries).
Related Qualifications:
Master of Education (Top 1 GPA), learning about Work Integrated Learning, Learning Assessment, Universal design for learning, and more, from Brock University, Ontario, Canada
Completed 3 month training and passed an examination to get certified as a Career Services Provider with National Career Development Association.
Completed a 2 month course for Employer and Industry Relation with Global WIL in 2023.
