Greeting from the founder of Int. Career Compass: Motivation & Curiosity

Hello, thank you for visiting our page! I'm Mai - Founder of this new brand Int Career Compass providing Career Coaching services to internationally trained professionals / international students / newcomers.

Career Coaching has became my career motivation and curiosity since 2021 when I started the first full-time job at a private college in Toronto as a Career Services Specialist. Coming from a developing country as a newcomer to Canada, getting the first job in a profession that I can see myself long term is one of the most important step for my new life.

My experience as a job seeker in a new country

It took me a year looking for my first full-time job (while working on 2 different part-time roles as a research assistant and a marketing assistant at a private high school), I had experience various negative feelings: Question my ability, see myself as a failure, feel doubtful about my future in Canada, turn off my social media, feel depressed and stressful. To calm my ego, I read a book about self compassion to stop blaming myself.

After 2 years helping 400-500 students / adult learners (both domestic and international background) with job searching in Canada, I've learned that the first job is very challenging for everyone, not just for me. Drawing from personal experience, I can relate and empathize with the panic of the job seekers, especially newcomers to a country. With my current expertise in career coaching, I aim to help more and more people getting into their desire professions.
